TOGETHER WE WILL:
Engage in Parent-Shared Leadership Community Workshops. Sponsored by Glen Allen Project (the GAP) and Family Services Alliance of SE Idaho  (funded by the Idaho Children’s Trust Fund).

Empowering Parents to Advocate for their Needs

This 6-week program provides parents with the tools to work as advocates, change agents, and partners with civic leaders for positive change.

Family Services Alliance will hold concurrent classes on site for the children of participating parents (aged 6-12).

Workshops will be held every Tuesday starting September 16 from 5:30 to 7 pm at 426 W. Lewis, Shop #2 at Lookout Point, Pocatello.

Sept. 16 Session 1: Introduction: Creating a Community of Caring. The Group will identify a Community Project. Examples include: recreation, tutoring, etc.

Sept. 23 Session 2: Community Resources and How They Work.

Sept. 30 Session 3: The Power of the Media and How To Use It.

Oct. 7   Session 4: Civics: How To Affect Public Policy and Budgets.

Oct. 14 Session 5: Understanding the Law and Our Court System.

Oct. 21 Session 6: Evaluation and Plans For The Future.

Each session will have an appropriate community leader for the topic.

The mission of  Parent Shared Leadership is to educate, support and organize parents to become leaders for family strengthening and building healthy communities.
