Glen Allen and his legacy 1947-2021

β€œWe are all creative, but by the time we are three of four years
old, someone has knocked the creativity out of us. Some people shut up the kids who start to tell stories. Kids dance in their cribs, but someone will insist they sit still. By the time the creative people
are ten or twelve, they want to be like everyone else.”—Maya Angelou

GAP is a tribute to Glen Allen, a talented builder, collector, and musician who was deeply engaged with artists and other makers throughout Pocatello. To honor Glen’s love and support for local makers, GAP works to have a space where people create, produce, heal and connect. Our mission is to be a systems leader for a vibrant maker ecosystem in Pocatello, and a model for others to build on.
The GAP is excited to announce it is now housed in a centrally-located studio space in the North Building adjacent to Lookout Park and across from the Marshall Public Library.

It is easily accessible to the public, visible, and is part of special events such as the Farmer’s Market, the Pride festival, Meadowlark Music Festival, Recovery Fest and, of course, the Kind Community. As participants we offer opportunities for community members to create memories which will be part of our studio, an offering to the community. Thank you Denis Clijsters for making this possible.

The Glen Allen Project is inclusive and is by and for our community! Our objectives are to:

1) Create a vibrant and supportive community where artists and makers can thrive by connecting
creatives of all ages and backgrounds. Break down barriers and encourage collaboration.
2) Introduce children of all ages to artistic pursuits in novel ways, ensuring that everyone
experiences the trans-formative power of creativity. Whether through workshops, exhibitions,
or interactive events, we will ignite passion and curiosity. This inter-generational approach will
benefit youth as well as the growing retirement community in Pocatello.
3) Centralize Access and information about local artistic resources. From studios and galleries to
educational programs, provide a one-stop location for discovering what’s available.
4) Creatively and Inclusively incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math
(STEAM) into programming for children and youth as well as young adults which will fill an
important GAP in Idaho where there are not enough people to fill lucrative STEM positions..

Share your talents!
